Feeling stuck in your job search?

One of my clients, a successful athletic coach at the collegiate level, is navigating her next career move.

“I’m feeling stuck in this job search.” She said.
“Tell me more...” I said.
“I don’t want to fail.”
"When your athletes are afraid of failing...how do you help them move forward?" I asked.

Her answer stopped me in my tracks. It was a powerful reminder that the mindset driving athletes is the same mindset that carries us through a challenging #jobsearch.

1. Focus on learning, not just the outcome. We learn from our wins and losses. Every interview, rejection, and conversation moves us forward.

2. Control what you can. You can’t control the competition. You can control your preparation, your effort, and how you show up.

3. Think smaller to move faster. Big, emotionally charged goals can feel overwhelming. Instead, ask: What can I accomplish today?

4. Let failure do its job. You are going to make mistakes, it's part of the process. Learn, Release, and Keep going.

5. Celebrate the small wins. They matter more than you think. Momentum builds confidence—and confidence builds results.

I'm grateful to learn from clients and am reminded that if you're feeling stuck right now, you’re not alone. But you’re also not standing still.
