Coaching + a Dash of AI = Job Offers
I’m a big fan of AI—especially when it comes to putting the finishing touches on application materials. AI has also improved in the past 6 months, specifically as it relates to readability.
Many hiring teams are using it too—to refine interview questions and streamline their process.
We do the same.
But here’s what we don’t use AI for:
👉 Real human feedback
Because at the end of the day, humans hire humans.
Even the most accomplished professionals can undersell themselves, miss key aspects of their leadership impact, or simply not recognize what makes them stand out.
Shining a light on one’s blind spots and then articulating them clearly, changes the game.
Earlier today, I was working with a client updating her resume. As we added to her training, it became clear—she was a thought leader in her field. She didn’t see it that way, but the evidence was undeniable. This realization completely shifted our ‘go-to-market” strategy.
Yesterday, I coached a brilliant teacher who didn’t think his love of learning was worth mentioning—when it’s exactly the kind of trait that will set him apart in the interview.
Last week, during a mock interview, a client glossed over the fact that he successfully navigated 3 ownership changes and rebuilt multiple processes. That’s not just adaptability, it also demonstrates resilience and leadership.
So why do such capable, high-performing people miss these value-adds?
· Are we too immersed in the day-to-day to see our broader impact?
· Do we assume everyone else is just as capable?
· Or might we, unintentionally leave the wrong impression when explaining why we’re ready for something new?
These aren’t small details. These are the stories that matter.
AI can refine your words—but it takes a human to help you see your value.
And that’s where the offers begin.
